Your Garbage Cart

Garbage is collected once a week on your assigned day. Every home gets an Enterprise-issued rolling cart.

Enterprise-Issued

Your Rolling Cart

One standard rolling cart per household, provided by Hopkinsville Solid Waste Enterprise. Need an extra cart or a replacement? Call the office at (270) 887-6245.

Cart damage: repairs or replacement due to misuse are at the customer’s expense. Normal wear is on us.

Curbside Rules

A few simple rules keep the route moving and make sure your cart gets emptied every week.

  • Place your cart at the curb in front of your residence — no sooner than 24 hours before your pickup day, and by 5:00 AM on collection day.
  • Point the handles toward your house and leave about 3 feet of clearance from mailboxes, vehicles, and other obstacles.
  • Bring the cart back in by 8:00 PM on pickup day.
  • Carts placed out late may not be collected until the following week, or may incur a return-trip fee.
  • No medical waste — it requires approved disposal methods and cannot go in your cart.

Bulk Item Pickup

Furniture, mattresses, carpet, remodeling debris, and other large items are collected twice a month, on a set bulk item week for each street.

Bulk items are anything you set outside your Enterprise-issued trash can.

Per the ordinance, contractors are responsible for disposing of the waste that results from the service they provide.

  • Limit 2 cubic yards, about the size of a couch.
  • Leave items at the curb until they have been collected.

Which week is yours depends on your street. Look yours up on My Pickup Day.

Limbs, clippings, or leaves? Green waste and seasonal leaf collection have their own page — see Green Waste & Leaf Collection.
Household garbage and anything bagged in plastic must go inside your Enterprise-issued trash can. Crews do not collect bagged items left outside the cart.
