Who needs this permit

Companies that provide temporary collection containers for building material inside the corporate city limits of Hopkinsville must hold a permit under Chapter 93 of the Hopkinsville Code of Ordinance. A separate permit is required for each site location and address. There is no permit fee. A permit is valid for up to twelve consecutive months and is not transferable.

Have these ready before you apply

  • Evidence of liability insurance and motorist coverage, attached as a file
  • A description of each vehicle you will operate, including license plate numbers
  • Your City of Hopkinsville privilege license number
  • The site address where the container will be placed

What happens after you apply

Your application goes to the HSWE General Manager for review. When it is approved, your permit is emailed to the address on your application. Print it and attach it to the front right hand upper corner of the container in a clear protective sleeve or bag. Permit holders also file a short monthly report of the material collected, due by the 5th of each month.
